T'ai-Chi with Pyramid Michael
T'ai-Chi Chuan is a Chinese Internal Martial Art designed to promote health and longevity as well as for use as self-defense. The slow meditative movements nurture your body by stimulating Acupuncture points, opening Channels or Meridians to increase the smooth even flow of "Chi" (life force) throughout the body and promoting health of the internal organs. Yang Style T'ai-Chi (originating with the Yang family), 108 Movement Long Form is a system developed in China and still practiced to this day. It has a full range of Martial Arts Forms: Weapons and Non-Weapons, Joining Hands, Fast Form, Tung Family Form, San Shou.
I studied with Grand Master Kai-Ying Tung in San Francisco starting in 1981. I began teaching in 1985. Being able to move my body in a responsive and agile manor has saved my life many times. Through the practice of good posture, proper breathing and strengthening of the bones and muscles I have healed myself from a severe scoliosis.
T'ai-Chi is one of the many "Chi-Gung" art forms present in Chinese Medicine. It is said that "by doing T'ai-Chi every day you will live a long and healthy life". Balance, strength and stamina are but a few of the many benefits of this practice.
Classes are taught on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-7pm at the "Norton Buffalo Hall" on Chapel Lane in Paradise, California. Loose clothing and flat shoes are the appropriate attire.
